Seamless Mercury-Free Tooth Restorations

Older metal amalgam fillings can stand out and weaken the tooth structure over time, leading to fractures. Modern composite resin fillings offer a strong, aesthetic, and completely mercury-free alternative.

At Zen Smiles Dental, we treat cavities and minor fractures using state-of-the-art **composite bonding**. We carefully select and layer different shades of resin to replicate the natural translucency and color gradient of your enamel. This material chemical-bonds directly to the tooth, requiring less enamel removal and reinforcing the remaining tooth structure. We also perform cosmetic bonding to repair chips, reshape uneven margins, or close minor gaps in a single, simple visit.

Clinical Journey

The Treatment Procedure

We restore your teeth in a single visit, polishing the composite resin to blend invisibly with your smile.

01

Cleansing & Preparation

Under local anesthesia, the decayed or weakened parts of the tooth are gently removed, leaving the healthy structure intact.

02

Color Matching

Using a physical shade guide, we match the exact color hue and translucency of your tooth enamel to select the correct composite shades.

03

Layering & UV Curing

The resin is layered into the tooth, sculpted to match the natural anatomy, and cured (hardened) using a high-intensity UV blue light.

04

Shaping & Polishing

We adjust the filling to fit your bite perfectly and polish it with progressive discs to achieve a high-shine, natural enamel gloss.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about composite fillings and bonding.

What is the difference between composite and amalgam fillings?
Amalgam fillings are made of a mixture of metals including silver and mercury; they are dark, require more tooth structure to be drilled away, and expand/contract, which can crack teeth. Composite fillings are made of tooth-colored plastic and silica glass, bond directly to the tooth, and require minimal drilling.
How long do composite fillings last?
With good oral hygiene and regular dental cleans, premium composite fillings and cosmetic bonding typically last between 5 to 8 years before they may need repair or replacement.
Will my tooth be sensitive after getting a filling?
Mild sensitivity to hot, cold, or biting pressure is common for the first few days after a filling. This is a normal healing reaction of the tooth nerve and resolves quickly. If sensitivity persists beyond two weeks, contact our clinic for a quick bite adjustment.
Can dental bonding be used to close gaps between teeth?
Yes, absolutely. Cosmetic composite bonding is an excellent, conservative method to close small gaps (diastemas) or repair chips in your front teeth. It can be completed in a single appointment and requires no grinding of your natural teeth.
